More then half of European hospital pharmacists face a medicines shortages

The largest pan-Europe survey on medicines supply shortages reports that almost 92 % of hospital pharmacists faced a long term medicines shortages in 2018. Weakly has do deal with that 39 % of European hospital pharmacists, daily 36 %. Only 69 % of responses are able to provide treatment to a patient by providing a therapeutic equivalent or near equivalent medicine, without major disruption to their treatment in the case of a medicine in short supply. The survey shows a significant increase compared to 2014. Many hospital pharmacists highlighted the need for more timely and accurate information on medicines shortages and calling to national governments to improve the collection of information about medicines shortages in Europe.
