Pharmacy Beyond Dispensing - Community pharmacies as part of integrated care: services, patient pathways and continuity of care across Europe

7-9 September 2026, Budapest, Hungary

The fifth edition of the EFPC Academy brought together nearly 90 pharmacy professionals and industry representatives from seven European countries in Budapest, to explore the evolving role of community pharmacies under the theme “Pharmacy Beyond Dispensing.”

This year's Academy introduced a more interactive format, combining country mapping, presentations and collaborative workshops. Participants exchanged experiences and best practices on expanding pharmacy services, including vaccination, screening, preventive care and digital health solutions, while identifying common challenges and opportunities across European healthcare systems.

The discussions highlighted the growing potential of community pharmacies to contribute to disease prevention, early diagnosis and more accessible, patient-centred healthcare.

The EFPC Academy 2026 reaffirmed the importance of cross-border cooperation and the need for greater recognition of pharmacies as an integral part of European healthcare systems.
